University Christian Church has a long-standing commitment to local, national, and international outreach.
Three out of every ten dollars received by cUc are designated for those in need. cUc gave over $119,000 to outreach causes in 2003
alone. Local community outreach is exemplified daily by the intensive use of the church building and grounds, and by member
involvement in many programs, including:
- University Christian Church Child Care Center (UC5). Provides care for 2-4 year olds who are the children
of teenage mothers attending Northwestern High School.
- Safe Haven and Warm Nights. Rotating shelters for homeless men, women, and children during the winter
months at cUc, as well as other local churches.
- Community Place Cafe. Provides free lunch to those in need, plus other services (cUc participates on the
fourth Monday of each month). Served at First United Methodist Church, at the corner of Adelphi Road & East-West Highway.
